sign wavingSequim, WA…The four corners and local park, in downtown Sequim, was humming with excitement as people gathered, on tax day, to share concerns about their country.

Approximately 300 citizens came to make statements about their futures, as well as the future of their children and grandchildren.

Independent groups joined with the 4-C (Concerned Citizens of Clallam County) planners to share ideas and concerns.

Business people, military retirees, retired law enforcement, landowners, senior rsign wavingetirees, children, as well as Republicans and some Democrat Party members and many Independents, joined the throng.

Forty homeschoolers and many of their parents held signs and waved flags at passing motorists. Many travelers returned the sentiment by waving and honking their horns.  Several truck drivers honked and offered their support.

A band played patriotic songs and hymns throughout the two hour rally. A man playing a bagpipe, joined the band.

A strong theme for the day was songs and proclamations about liberty.

There were dogs dressed in patriotic scarves and costumes, balloons, children in baby strollers, and motorcyclists.

Only one dissenter was noticed in the crowd, but was apparently quite harmless. Some thought he is not from this area.

Joanne Hatfield waved a sign thanking Attorney Rob McKenna for his part in the lawsuit against the health care decisions.

Children made statements about their future.  “When I am twenty, I will have to pay 20 thousand dollars,” said one young man, whose sign opposed higher taxes. Many of the young people walked the scene and held up their signs, making sure they were heard.

God bless America,” was the theme of many.  Return to the Constitution of the United States,” said another young person.

People could be heard discussing their frustration with the newly passed health care plan.

The strength of our country was another concern to several people.  They want to be sure our country will always remain strong.

The two hour event closed at 1 pm, as a slight sprinkling of rain, graced the pavement.
