(Port Angeles, WA) -- Port of Port Angeles commissioner Jim McEntire says he's running for the state house.
McEntire called himself a fiscal conservative in announcing his run for the seat being vacated by Lynn Kessler this year.
He says the state has overspent and he would work to cut spending and provide more tax relief to all Washingtonians.
McEntire says if elected he'd also work to restart the economy in the 24th district. He says he also would ensure adequate funding for public safety and education. He also supports sensible environmental regulation, ensuring those who make a mess are the one to clean it up.
McEntire lives in Sequim and is in his first term as a port of Port Angeles commissioner. He retired from the Coast Guard as a captain and worked in the U.S. Transportation Office as an analyst. He also worked as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Budget and Strategic Planning at the U.S. Labor Department and was a director at Homeland Security.
