Peter Marshall Challenges Local Citizens By Lois Perry, Citizen Review Online Sequim, WA - 10/25/02 - The truth about our original American vision and the recovery of it was the theme of Peter Marshall’s challenge to Peninsula citizens, October 25, at Sunland Golf and Country Club. Marshall spoke about the moral/spiritual crisis of America at The 6th Annual Clallam County Leadership Prayer Breakfast. The internationally known author and inspirational speaker is the son of Dr. Peter Marshall, the Chaplain of the United States Senate 1947-1949. His mother, Catherine Marshall has authored several books and a movie of their lives was produced 47 years ago, entitled, “A Man Called Peter.” Marshall reflected back in time to the year 1620 and said, “America is a divine experiment in self-government.” He likened that time in America to the Biblical time of Moses, when God set His commandments in stone for His people. “All things are possible to God---do you believe that?” challenged Marshall as he read the account of Mark 10:17-31 from the New Testament. He encouraged people to put God before money, worldly goods, or anything else that would hinder their faith. Marshall reminded the attendees that we have a responsibility to our country, nation, and local government, to follow God’s laws. He urged citizens to walk in the light of Jesus Christ and stand on the principles of many, who have gone before us, in this great nation. “The Church is not winning people to God,” said the speaker as he spanned the last year’s happenings and explained that devastations we are experiencing is because God has issued a huge wake up call to America. He encouraged the gatherers to return to the Biblical plea in 11 Chronicles 7:14 and pray for America and to walk in the ways of God. Two of several books Peter Marshall has authored with his friend, David Manuel are, “The Light and the Glory” and “From Sea to Shining Sea.” |
