(Port Angeles) -- Two group opposed to adding fluoride to the Port Angeles water supply are suing the city and the dentist group that's funding fluoride. Clallam County Citizens for Safe Drinking Water and Protect the Peninsula's Future filed the suit yesterday in Clallam County Superior Court.

The suit challenges a gift between the Washington Dental Services Foundation and the city that would pay for a facility to add fluoride to the water. The suit contends that gift violates that state's Environmental Policy Act.

The city and the foundation signed the agreement last month, where the foundation agreed to pay 260-thousand dollars for the facility and the city agrees to run it for ten years. The groups that filed the lawsuit have tried unsuccessfully to derail the effort through a series of appeals.
