(Port Angeles) -- The group preparing the septic management plan for Clallam County will meet once again a week from Monday.

The On-site Septic System Work Group is set to meet on Monday, April 23rd from 6 to 8 p.m. in the County Commissioners' meeting room at the Courthouse in Port Angeles.

The group will discuss septic system inspection training for homeowners and professionals.

They'll also review the comments and ideas voiced by citizens at recent public workshops.

State law requires the County to prepare a septic system management plan that includes the identification of unknown septic systems in the county.

Other issues to be addressed by the group include meeting new inspection requirements for all existing systems, plus identifying marine shoreline areas that are or may be impacted by on-site septic systems.

The County created a stakeholder work group to provide recommendations to the Health Officer and the Clallam County Board of Health on how to implement the new requirements.

Work group meetings are open to the public and citizens may give feedback to the Work Group during public comment periods.
