Clallam County, WA - In his first effort to be considered for elective office, nineteen-year old Mike Wiley, Jr. – Peninsula College student and employee of Armstrong Marine – was successfully chosen by voters in Clallam County for one of the Clallam County Conservation District board supervisor seats.

Wiley won the seat by a vote count that exceeded that of the only ballot-listed candidate by nearly doubling their total votes, despite being a write-in candidate for the election held on February 19, 2009.

An articulate and thoughtful young gentleman, Wiley expressed interest in working to better conservation efforts in the local community, without violating the constitutionally guaranteed private property rights of American landowners.

Sequim, Port Angeles and Forks communities, within the next several years, will have the opportunity to get to know this future leader, as he makes efforts to improve conservation and respect for the environment in his hometown area.
