(Port Angeles) – The city of Port Angeles and Clallam Transit may condemn downtown property owned by a local business. The city council holds a hearing tonight on proceeding with condemning the property owned by Budget Rent-A-Car. City officials say negotiations are at an impasse with the property owner and the city and transit system need the property to begin constructing the downtown Gateway Transportation Center. If the city council approves tonight’s measure, it would give authority to attorneys to take the next step in forcing the property owners to sell what is now a parking lot along Front Street between Lincoln and Laurel.
