(Port Angeles) - County officials are shooting for completion of the Olympic Discovery Trail from the Forks area to the Eastern County Line by the year 2010.

County Senior Transportation Planner Rich James says construction is underway on the final bridge section between Port Angeles and Sequim over McDonald Creek.

The bridge is expected to be completed in March.

James says construction is slated over the summer or fall to complete the Port Angeles to Sequim trail sections. He says county officials are solving issues with rights-of-way in the area of Jimmycomelately Creek in order to complete another section of trail in the East County.

He says plans are underway for the 20 mile section of the Olympic Discovery Trail through the Lake Crescent, which would more than double the current trail mileage.

The County also plans to chip seal additional sections of the trail between Port Angeles and Sequim this summer or fall.
