Planning commission changes

Clallam County, WA - A man with a finance background has been picked to fill an opening on the Clallam County Planning Commission.

Tuesday, commissioners named Tom Montgomery to the panel, filling a vacancy for the Sequim area. Montgomery has a varied background that includes work as a retired finance banker and is a member of the Audabon Society.

Port Angeles leaders are scrambling to fill holes in the city’s Planning Commission are a mass exodus left the panel without a quorum last month.

The resignations came after the city council approved a controversial re-organization plan which put the city’s Planning Department under the control of a new director of Planning and Economic Development.

Tuesday night, the council was expected to adjusted the procedures for appointing members to the planning commission so that temporary commissioners could be appointed. That would allow the city to appoint former City Councilman and long-time Planning Commission Jim Huelett to bring the panel back up to four members, giving it a quorum and allowing it to conduct business.
