Okanogan Farm Bureau to host RMAP rally

1/11/03

Okanogan County, WA - Okanogan County Farm Bureau will host a critical Road Maintenance and Abandonment Plan (RMAP) Rally at the Okanogan Fairgrounds Agriplex on Thursday, January 23rd, at 6:00 with the latest RMAP updates on:

· Forests and Fish Group Proposed Changes to the RMAP Legislation
· RMAP Legislative Hearing on February 5th in Olympia
· Transportation Coordination to the Legislative Hearing
· Continued Impact to Private Property Owners

The draft RMAP legislation circulating in Olympia gives private landowners small relief from the industrial-strength regulations passed in the Forests and Fish legislation and does not address private property issues. Our voices need to be heard in the continued negotiations on RMAP legislation.

"Agreeing to the proposed legislation is like signing a blank check and leaving it on the bar of the Last Chance Saloon," said Joel Kretz, Okanogan County Farm Bureau President. "This may be our last chance to stand up and be counted. Let's send a strong message to Olympia that we haven't gone away."
