Clallam: Election filing begins today

Clallam County, WA - Filing for the fall elections begins today in the auditor's office of the Clallam County Courthouse.

More than 60 positions -- from city council positions in Port Angeles, Sequim and Forks to school boards to Port of Port Angeles commissioner -- are up for grabs.

Filing closes on Friday.

Among the positions on this year's general election ballot are 15 county Charter Review Commission seats.

Residents of each of the three county commissioner districts will have the opportunity to elect five representatives -- called ``freeholders'' -- to examine and amend the county charter.

The last Charter Review Commission was convened in 1993.

The freeholders will be selected on the Nov. 6 ballot.

There can be an unlimited number of candidates on the ballot from each district.

In all the other races, if more than two candidates file and qualify for an office, they will face off in a primary election on Sept. 18.

The top two vote getters go on the Nov. 6 general election ballot.
