West End: Building Supply Company closes in Forks

Peninsula Daily News

FORKS -- The city's mayor hopes that the closing of the city's only full-fledged building supply business will be a temporary loss -- one that owner Guy Decker blames on a ``rotten economy.''

``The economy in Forks stinks, and I have been sinking money into it for six years and I just said `no more,''' Decker said Sunday at Forks Building Supply, which he has owned for 30 years.

The business, which has operated in Forks for 51 years, was open Sunday for its close-out sale, and will remain open ``until it is bare.''

Decker said he believes that could take about two months, but in any event it will be closed before the rainy season begins.
