Westport plant comes "off the ground"

Peninsula News Network

Port Angeles, WA - 6/17/03 - An historic day on the Port Angeles waterfront Monday, as the first pieces of the new Westport Shipyard yacht plant went airborne.

Crews from the contractor on the project, Fisher and Sons Construction of Burlington were busy maneuvering massive steels beams and pieces in place that will form the skeleton of the new plant.

The buildings will be used for the construction of Westport’s new 164 foot luxury yacht model, starting next year.

The work this week is to bring the first of several buildings erect by lifting the individual components in place and then fastening them down. The big roof for this first building should be “flown” into position around the middle of the week.
