Draft Watershed Plan to be previewed at open house

(Port Angeles) -- Peninsula residents will have a chance to learn about some area watersheds at a couple of informational sessions early next month.

The Elwha Morse and Dungeness River Management Teams will each host an open house to allow the public an opportunity to review the draft Watershed Plan.

The documents are recommendations on where future water supplies will come from, how our streams will be protected from excess diversions and how the health of watersheds will be protected from contamination and degradation.

The open houses are opportunities for the public to submit written or oral comments on the recommendations.

The Elwha Morse Management Team Open House is scheduled for Monday, April 7th from 6 to 9 PM at the Vern Burton Center in Port Angeles.

The Dungeness River Management Team Open House is slated for Tuesday, April 8th from 6 to 9 PM at Carrie Blake Park.

Representatives of each management team will be available at the forums will be available at several stations to answer questions and discuss the plan.

Written comments will be accepted on the Draft recommendations before April 15th.
