PENINSULA COLLEGE CAMPUS MINISTRY RECEIVES
DENOMINATIONAL GRANT . . . CONTINUES TO VOLUNTARILY
REJECT STATE/GOVERNMENT FUNDING . . . HAS GIVEN OVER
$6,000 TO PC & LOCAL ECONOMIC COMMUNITY SINCE ITS
INCEPTION IN 2002

News Release

PORT ANGELES--The Peninsula College Student Christian
Fellowship recently received a $1,500 grant for their
2006 budget from the Board of Higher Education and
Campus Ministry of the United Methodist Church,
Pacific Northwest Conference. This is the third
consecutive year that the regional denominational
board has given financial assistance to the campus
ministry.

Since becoming a sanctioned student club of Peninsula
College in 2002, the PCCSF has yearly and voluntarily
chosen to reject all government/state funding. Such
"perks" as free usage of the college's postage stamps
for the club's annual bulk mailing has also been
included in the their rejection of government/state
assistance. As a club the PCCSF is entitled to request
up to $1,000 for their annual budget from the
Associated Student Council, the school's student body
government, and the free usage of such things as the
school's postage stamps for club-related mailings.

Instead of government/state funding, members of the
club have sought to "depend on God alone" to supply
all of their financial needs via grants and donations
from denominational agencies and area churches,
businesses, and individuals. The New Testament verse
of Philippians 4:19 is the basis for their financial
mindset: "And my God shall supply all your need
according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."

According to PCCSF founder and facilitator Francis
Kyle, the club has contributed over $6,000 to the
college and North Olympic Peninsula economic community
at-large since its inception in 2002.

Those wishing to donate to the faith-based ministry
can send a check payable to "PCCSF c/o PA FUMC," 110
East Seventh Street, Port Angeles, 98362. Or, contact
Francis Kyle at francisk@pcadmin.ctc.edu or 461-2849.
In addition to his involvement with the PCCSF, Kyle
also is an assistant coach for the Peninsula College
Pirates men's basketball team, and the youth minister
at the Port Angeles First United Methodist Church.

Along with sponsoring periodic events and outreaches,
the PCCSF meets on campus for a time of Bible study
and prayer every Wednesday from noon to 12:45 p.m. in
room J54 in the Pirate Union Building (PUB), 1502 East
Lauridsen Boulevard.
