Clallam County, WA - Leaders of local human service agencies say they have some new information about the connections between substance abuse and violence, and are ready to hammer out where to focus their efforts at curbing the problems here in Clallam County.

The data has been pulled together and will now be analyzed and prioritized using a statistical model developed by the University of Washington. The information… which includes the latest data from local schools, will be used to help local agencies more closely target their prevention programs, which are aimed at drug and alcohol abuse, and how that’s leading to more problems of violence.

The information will be presented in a meeting that has been set for Wednesday, June 4th from 3 until 5pm in the Board of Commissioners meeting room at the Clallam County courthouse.

Anyone interested in participating in the meeting is asked to call 417-2236 or 417-2385 by June 2nd so organizers can assemble enough info packets for everyone to use.

The information will also be used to help prepare requests for state and federal grants to help fund those prevention programs.
