US laws have to "harmonize" with those of other countries

Dear Editor Citizens Review,

The recently signed federal budget bill will, effective 1-1-98, forbid senior senior citizens from having any medical treatment not paid for by Medicare. Well - the GATT agreement, as enforced by the World Trade Organization (WTO), requires Federal and State laws in the USA be made to harmonize with laws of other countries. A German pharmaceutical company has filed a complaint with the WTO to force the United States to allow the use of vitamins, minerals, and food supplements ONLY by a doctors prescription.

Think about that. If Medicare will not pay for a senior to see a doctor just to get a prescription, then seniors can no longer even get vitamin C for a cold. If Medicare will pay for the doctor's visit, that sure will not help the Medicare monetary crisis. Furthermore, parents would have to pay for a doctor's visit just to get a prescription to buy vitamins for their kids.
Do you get the feeling that there are a lot of "Control the peon" mindsets in charge of your life? Hey America - better wake up before it is too-too late. What kind of freedoms are you leaving for the younger generation?
