Nations 'standing army' expands
to agencies
-Washington, D.C. - "Several recent studies tell
the American people we are now subject to regulatory intervention
in our daily lives by some 53 federal departments, agencies,
watchdog commissions, police or paramilitary forces other than
those of the Defense Department," reports an authoritative
contributor to the Rappahannock RECORD of Kilmarnock, VA.
"Investigative reporter Sally Foster of the Western Journalism
Institute has produced research evidence showing the nation now
has a separate 'standing army' of some 60,000 agents armed with
the federal enforcement authority and an impressive arsenal of
lethal weapons," the paper noted.
Meanwhile, Joseph Farah, editor and director of the Institute
told moderator Paul Weyrich of NET-TV's "Direct Line with
Paul Weyrich October 15th that allowing for the 68 thousand federal
police in the FBI, ATF and the Secret Service, which the U.S.
Department of Justice acknowledges, there are about 20,000 more
agents assigned now to EPA, the Commerce Department, U.S. Department
of Interior and Housing and Urban Renewal.
Farah said there are now Justice Department proposals for
a massive consolidation of such armed government personnel.
Farah added: "The growth of these armed agents is phenomenal...
last year alone they added over four thousand.... and there are
plans for the next three years to train 25,090 more each year
for the next three.... The irony is that they are disarming law-abiding
American citizens at the very moment they are arming to the teeth
various federal agencies.
Clearly, that is not a coincidence." Farah added: "I'm
not a prophet but I don't think you need to be to see that this
is contrary to what the Founders of this country had in mind
for us!"
