Representative Dicks supports
wolves in the Olympics
Port Angeles, WA - According to Northland Cable News, Congressman
Norm Dicks says the federal government has only themselves to
blame for driving the wolves out of Olympic national Park. He
now says it will be up to them to correct their own mistake by
reintroducing wolves unless studies show otherwise.
A fund for study on wolves in the amount of $300,000 has now
been set aside to determine whether there is enough prey base
such as deer and elk to justify the reintroduction of wolves.
Congressman Dicks says it was the government's error for fearing
the wolves and acting upon their decisions irrationally. "We
killed the wolves. Mistake of the government."
The congressman says no decision will be made until the studies
are complete. He says he is in favor of having the top predator
reintroduced. Other national parks have reintroduced the wolves,
he said, like Yellowstone, the red wolf in North Carolina and
the Mexican wolves in Arizona, which confirms to him that the
are important to our ecosystems.
