Elitist
Oligarchy at UN would control U.S.
Clinton-Gore driving to launch world
government

Why history's greatest and freest society
should surrender sovereignty to UN tyranny is the foremost question
facing America today. But like it or not, it's happening.
Through executive orders, and by subordinating
federal authority to UN pronouncements, the Clinton-Gore administration
increasingly lets foreign officials dictate policy here in our
own land. Why? Partly because of pressure from powerful environmental
groups. They dominate the UN and intend, as did the communists,
to rule the world.
World government is no new concept. Following
World War II, the United World Federalists, World Republic, and
other organizations promoted it to avert a nuclear holocaust
where " dirty" bombs saturating the atmosphere with
long-lived radioactive fallout could destroy all life on the
planet.
But Al Gore, frontrunner for the presidency
in 2000, ignores thermonuclear or biological threats to people.
Instead he says we need a "wrenching transformation"
of society to save the planet from environmental destruction.
Relinquishing American sovereignty will be "wrenching",
all right. But it won't save anything. Portrayed as democratic,
responsible and the answer to global problems, the UN is none
of these.
We're told it relies on "consensus"
among its members in setting policy. According to the Random
House Unabridged Dictionary, "consensus" means "general
agreement or accord...a majority of opinion."
But UN officials define "consensus"
quite differently. Michael Cutajar, Executive Secretary for the
UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), says "Consensus
is very much up to the presiding officer."
This perverted nonsense has broad support
from other UN officials. Raul Estrada, Chair of an Ad Hoc Group
(on the Berlin Mandate) ruled that "consensus" existed
despite objections of the United States, Canada and Russia. And,
he said, only a two-thirds majority could overturn his ruling!!
Befuddled folks who've thought consensus
was democratic might be persuaded this is how democracy works
in the UN.
Hogwash! There's no such thing as consensus
there, nor does democracy exist.
For instance, the President of the Conference of the Parties
(COP) concerned with drafting the Climate Change Treaty is "elected"
each year. The current President, Hiroshi Ohki (Japan), was "recommended"
by Past President Chen Chimutengwende (Zimbabwe) then "elected"
by "acclamation." Next he named seven Vice Presidents
who were similarly "elected."
To forestall possible argument over
whatever COP's President proclaimed as a consensus, no written
minutes where taken. Instead, oral reports were condensed and
became the official record. One participant in these meetings
tells us during two years of negotiations delegates constantly
complained the written record in no way resembled actual discussions!
Not only does the UN reject democracy
in decision-making, the body itself has become an elitist oligarchy.
Its self- perpetuating staff makes virtually all decisions -
including approving which names are put up for "election"
to each office. Yet this organization now has the power to seriously
impact our daily lives.
The global warming pact, for example,
will sharply cut our industrial production, electrical generation,
heating and air conditioning, travel, use of appliances, and
cause major price hikes for most everything.
Meanwhile, UN designations appended to
forests, rivers, parks, etc., already are putting vast areas
of America under international jurisdiction. How
did it achieve such power? Largely through help from U.S. presidents.
Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan and George Bush all maneuvered to
increase its influence.
But past machinations are insignificant
compared to what's happening today. Clinton and Gore are driving
hard to establish the UN as a world government. Ignored is that
China, soon to be the world's most powerful nation, and others
reject its authority.
"People who submit to (laws) made
neither by themselves nor by an authority derived from them (are)
slaves." So said James Madison.
We should see that our elected officials heed his words.
