Jim Buck Proves False Claims By Oppositon

October 30, 2006

News Release

State Representative Jim Buck , 24th District R of Joyce, presented the press with examples of false claims made by his opponents at a press conference at Clallam County Republican Party Headquarters.

Buck stressed that polls show his campaign is ahead and that the purpose of the press conference was to prove beyond a doubt that his opposition has presented many false assertions to the voters.

Buck produced emails and copies of documents from the Journal of the House proving claims of his absence and missed votes are untrue.

Buck also provided voting records showing that his position on numerous bills listed in his opposition’s campaign mailers are taken out of context, misrepresented or in some case out right lies. For instance:

-          The opposition listed Buck’s vote against HB2460 as a vote against small business but the record shows Buck voted for the bill on final passage.

-          Opposition mailers last week said Buck voted against a minimum wage bill in 1997 that never got a hearing and never came up for a vote.

-          Buck provided numerous instances where opposition claims that he voted for or against programs in specific bills simply was not accurate because the subjects never appeared in the bills.

“Courts have ruled that political free speech does not have to be truthful. However, the public has the final say over what is right and wrong. I am presenting this information to the press so they can show the voters and let them decide,” said Buck.
