Senate approves money for new tribal road

(Washington DC) – The Lower Elwha Tribe will get $2.3 million for a new road.

Washington Senator Patty Murray says the money’s in a Senate Transportation bill that passed late last night.

The tribe will use the money to build an all-weather primary access road connection from the reservation west of Port Angeles to the Clallam County road system adjacent to the flood plain.

Also in the bill is $688,000. for Clallam Transit. The agency can use the money to replace and repair buses.
