KONP News

(Port Angeles) – It’s been talked about for years, now the county is looking for someone to build a scenic overlook at the top of the Morse Creek hill along Highway 101.

County commissioners yesterday called for bids on the proposed Gateway project. The plan calls for adding a westbound ramp from Highway 101.

The parking area now west of C’est Si Bon restaurant will be rebuilt and an information center will be constructed. Signs pointing out the Olympic Discovery trail and other tourist information will be included. There will also be local Native American tribes' interpretive kiosks.

The county has received federal grant money to pay for the project. Construction may start later this year.
