The Dungeness River Area Watershed Management PlanA non-point pollution management planning project begun in 1991, and involving extensive public participation, the Dungeness River Area Watershed Management Plan focused more on surface water quality. A prior project considered the Sequim Bay area. These projects were funded with Centennial Clean Water funds and Clallam County funds, developed by the Puget Sound Water Quality Authority, and administered by WA Department of Ecology. There are two reports from the Dungeness Area project. The first one, a characterization study, was written to provide technical support and background documentation for the planning process (PSCRBT 1991). The goals of the resulting 1993 Watershed Management Plan for management of non-point pollution included developing a community stewardship ethic, maintaining and improving water quality, improving the knowledge and understanding of watershed processes, encouraging interagency cooperation, and fully implementing the proposed actions and intent of this plan (CC-DWMC/Jenkins 1993).
